What do you think of the war logs that have been published by the Guardian, NY Times and Der Spiegel along with WikiLeaks?

Do you think that it is right that these logs have been released?

WikiLeaks released 95,000 confidential documents regarding the war in Afghanistan. The documents show reports of civilians being killed, meetings that took place in secret, etc. etc. Pretty much nothing new, it's just now people can read official documentation on how grim war really is and now will start to complain even more. Nothing newer than I think it was 6 months old has been released, though, so there's still some level of OpSec.

Oh, and it wasn't just US documentation, either. It was documentation from the entirety of NATO.

Wiki-leaks is such a tool, it's blatantly obvious people use them to their own selfish ends (here, damaging the Obama administration politically) while the blond what's his face goes "hurka durka, less censorship is gud herp derp"

The docs are since 2003 to 2009, so don´t hit directly the Obama Admistration !
And they are military reports, not gov. reports !
Of course that Obama political adversaries may try Obama to look bad, but thats what politicians do !

None of the coverage I've read thus far has been attacking Obama, lulz.

It's irrelevant whether or not Obama "did it", so to speak. It's the fact that this is airing dirty laundry at a very bad time, where public support of the war in Afghanistan (you know, the one war that was actually worth fighting for) is sagging heavily. This flood of information is to damage public support further, it'd be easily lost on the public how old the reports actually are or if there have been improvements since most news nowdays are trashy soundbites that don't go into depth about jackshit.

This damages Obama politically because without public support, it'll be harder for him to do difficult but necessary things for the stabilization of Afghanistan, especially on the international front.

The leak wasn't intended to hurt Obama, I think, but the war effort in general. If opportunity had presented itself earlier, or later, I'm sure the reports would have been leaked under a different president as well.

I do not like to comment here stuff that have nothing to do if CN or NADC,
but because we are speaking about in some way about freedom of speech, I have been filling keen to comment.

I´m always happy when this secret stuff, come out, because that may help people to make they mind, and make things to fix the situation,
is true that unfortunately, in our society, people are teach not to think for them self, but to listen and do what show in TV.

I still suporte the intervention in Afghanistan, and I hope that this "leak" may help, people to face this problem,
and help to make the live of 2 of my previus comrades, and they unit, easier.

The leak was perpetrated by a former American front line soldier that is how they got out he was mad about something or another. As for should they have been leaked hell no!! Those documents hold the entire NATO strategy if one read it closely enough! I am in the Canadian Army and proud to be there, those documents if fell into the wrong hands, again, can give clues to how not just Canada but all of NATO operates certain area like convoys. More of my comrades in arms and more allies will die because of these. There is a reason they were kept secret and they should have stayed that way.

I agree! the soldier who leaked these documents is guilty of treason in time of war and should be stood up against the nearest wall and shot!
