Sorry Aurelius. i just deleted the file on Mega...lol. Tank...that was one helluva twist. Hopefully, they can follow it up in season two with something great as well.

I have. You have yet to see the major twist. I liked it, but I think it could be even better. I'm looking forward to season 2.

    Game of Thrones [POSSIBLE SPOILERS]

Yes...R+L=J certainly looks to be true. Arya has become a real badass...lol.
  8. I thought I would start a GoT thread considering the popularity of the show. Please note....this thread MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!! The first episode of season 7 aired Sunday and will be followed by 6 more episodes this season. The next (and final season) will consist of 6 episodes. I thought the season premiere this Sunday was good. What say you?

    Game of Thrones [POSSIBLE SPOILERS]

I thought a couple season ago got too convoluted. In one episode alone there were nine different scenes with different story lines. They did intertwine some, but it became too discombobulated. I think last season and the start of this season has a better streamlined approach primarily concentrating on what's going on in the north and the road (or sea) to King's Landing. Cercei is obviously the primary antagonist (at least not in the north). A lot of people think her brother Jamie will ultimately end her, but there's always Tyrion that could as well. My wife is counting on Arya doing it. Regardless, I'm guessing someone will.

    Trump's seven-nation ban

My guess is that SCOTUS will rule that they do not have standing. "Standing" is the right to file a lawsuit because it directly harms you. That would let the ban go ahead. TBH, the government should simply tweak the language on visas and then make that directive. Incidentally, the most liberal appeals circuit (9th) always get's overturned. Can you believe they get overturned by SCOTUS 80% of the time? That's just insane.

    Trump's seven-nation ban

The President nominates all federal judges (there's around 900 right now), but the Senate must confirm them all. That gives both branches of government the ability to shape the judicial branch.Because all federal judges (district, appeals and SCOTUS) have lifetime appointments, I personally believe it is the single most powerful power the President has. His/her's policies can be overturned once he leaves office, but those judges can last many years. Not all judges adhere to the same ideology as the President that named them. For instance, Republican President Gerald Ford nominated Justice Stevens, who ended up be a staunch liberal. Bush Sr. nominated Justice Souter, who certainly leaned left. Nixon nominated Justice Blackmun, who was one of the most liberal. Reagan nominated Justice O'Connor, who was always considered in the middle as a swing vote. Having the justices doing the nominations themselves would leave it all "in house", which would be the opposite of what the separation of the three branches are meant to do. Also, judges are supposed to be non-political, so leaving it up to them would make it more political, with no other branch able to do much at all.

    Star Wars Rogue One *SPOILER*

I saw it last week and really liked it a lot. I think it may be the best Star Wars since the originals. I agree with House about the ending. There were a ton of Easter eggs from the blue milk to Cornelius Evaza ("He doesn't like you"..."I'm sorry"...."I don't like you either") and many others. The visuals were excellent, but the movie didn't need to rely on them since the story well well written. It's the perfect compliment to A New Hope. If you go see Rogue One, I suggest you immediately watch A New Hope when you go home. 9/10

    Debate 2016

But Gore didn't concede until much later, after the recounts and judicial rulings. If he get's trounced (which I think he will as far as the electoral count) he would then look ridiculous to argue it. But if it's close like 2000 (which it won't be), I see no problem admitting he may not accept the outcome. Your exactly right. Trump is his own worst enemy. Trump is a pompous ass who will get trounced in the electoral college. I think the popular vote will be closer, but he'll lose that too. As someone who leans more right than left, I believe Clinton winning will only give the Republicans a better chance to keep the senate and house. Even if the dems tie or possibly even win the senate in this election, the Republicans will have a majority in both chambers from the mid-terms on. I honestly believe if Trump were to win, the dems would get control of the senate in the mid-terms and possibly the house. History has shown is that the party in the Oval Office most often loses seats in the mid-terms. I disagree with Clinton even more than I do Trump, although I think they are both asses. But back to Congress. If you look back in the past quarter century, when the Republicans controlled congress, the economy was better. Clinton's best years were easily his last 6 when the Republican hurricane swept them to power in both chambers. Bush's worst years were by far at the end (2 years), when the Dems too control of both chambers.Obama's worst years were by far when he had a Democrat controlled congress. Almost every economic statistic backs this up. I think Rubio would have beat Clinton, but the ridiculous Trump phenomenon took over and now we'll have our first female President...which isn't a bad thing, but the fact that it is her...is.

    Debate 2016

Johnson actually said he didn't know what Aleppo was. There's no real way to spin that. This guy doesn't have a clue about foreign policy. He made an ass of himself again...http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2016/09/28/gary-johnson-has-another-aleppo-moment-during-town-hall-on-msnbc/ It's sad and pathetic the candidates we have running this year- all of them.

    Debate 2016

Clinton and Trump are both bad and Johnson isn't any better....http://www.mediaite.com/online/gary-johnson-stuns-morning-joe-panel-with-a-blank-stare-what-is-aleppo/ http://www.mediaite.com/online/gary-johnson-bizarrely-sticks-his-tongue-out-at-reporter-like-the-very-serious-candidate-he-is/ CNN sure did seem like Clinton won the debate. A large majority of polls favored Trump. I thought this article was rather interesting. It's a bunch of undecideds (mostly dems) in Pennsylvania, which will be a pivotal state in November....http://nypost.com/2016/09/26/the-best-debate-takes-come-from-inside-the-bar/ This has to be the worst set of candidates in my lifetime....and my lifetime is probably longer than just about everyone reading this....lol. If I had to put money on it, I think it will be very close, but Clinton will win. We could even have another 2000 where the winner of the popular vote does not win the electoral college.

    Rio 2016!

What's even more impressive for the U.S. is that we are one of the only Olympic nations not funded by the government. Most countries fund their Olympians and often have a minister of sports. Countries like China have rigorous government programs to train athletes. Here, it's through donations. Many outsiders may not even know how difficult it is for many athletes to get the funding needed, especially in less known sports.

    Republican National Convention

I enjoyed reading your posts and learning your opinions. Thank you. I'll respond on some of your points, point by point... Unfortunately, politicians use scare tactics to get voters attention. Sometimes it has merit, sometimes it does not. For instance the GOP constantly saying the Democrats will take all your guns away. They make a point about losing some gun rights, but the Second Amendment isn't going anywhere. The Democrats often say Republicans want to take your Social Security away, but that's simply pandering the elderly. Social Security isn't going anywhere. Hate speech can be subjective. Personally, I do not believe limiting immigration is hate at all. I believe our federal government's main purpose is to protect us and finding solutions to do that needs to be heard. I believe aid to Americans should come more from the state and local level of government. Millennials always have a low voter turn-out. With Sanders (who they loved) being kicked around from the DNC and Clinton, I think more will stay home and not vote. I do believe Trump's caustic rhetoric will actually attract younger voters who subscribe to his no non-sense approach. Over all though, as usual- blacks will vote over 93% Democrat, white men will vote for Trump and women will vote for Clinton. The young will still vote for Clinton, but it will be closer than usual. The key is Hispanics. Trump needs at least 35% to win. Bush was able to get that (35% and 44%) and that's why he won twice. One thing that stands out for Sanders is the fact that he repeated said there isn't enough jobs for college graduates, but ran on making college free for all. That makes no sense. One problem we have here in the U.S is believing all kids need to get a college education. We spend millions and million of dollars each year on kids who start college only to drop out soon after. We need to let the youth know of the vocational trade job opportunities out there. For many, it's a better idea to go to trade school and become an electrician, welder etc. that to go get a degree in something that has very little opportunity. I see it all the time and it's frustrating to see. College debt is so damn and two main reasons are drop out rates and colleges raising costs as they receive more government aid. I believe abortion is a black and white issue based on this premise...A complete loss of life supersedes a partial loss of liberty. Human life should not be valued differently, as one life should not trump the other. For instance, I believe killing in self-defense and abortion when the life of the mother is in danger. I am against the death penalty, but believe there are times war is necessary. I'm attaching a paper I wrote on the issue that gives a good perspective of my thoughts and how I came to hold my views. Republican National Convention

I agree with a lot of what was said above, but not this narrative of Republicans in general being racist. What exactly was said on the GOP stage that was racist? I do disagree quite a bit with one statement above. I disagree with the agenda being "against young families" based on "affordable education and pro-choice". You don't make education more affordable by pouring more money into it. We've tried that and all that happens is the costs continually go up with the continual increases in spending. Attending school is compulsory. One thing I agree with the GOP with is school vouchers. Why should a child that comes from a less affluent family be forced to attend an inferior school just because his/her parents cannot afford a better one or move? The Democrats are almost always against school vouchers. I've commented on abortion here before. There's nothing more against "young families" than when one family member's life is intentionally ended. I do not like Trump. I think he acts like a pompous ass. I do agree with him on more issues than Clinton though.
