    Kharn's Gaming Corner

Awesome that we have another gamer here. I play a lot of PC games, mostly FPS and play PS3 sometimes. That said I expect Battlefield 4 to take over my life lol. Any plans to play it?

    George Zimmerman Verdict

At Well said. At the very least, how was this not harassment on Zimmerman's part?

    NADC Inaugural poll

Considering I spent like $2600 on this desktop, I'd have to say PC . Civilization V and Battlefield 3 mostly. I have a PS3 for MLB the Show and I will probably get a PS4 for MLB the Show 2014. Pretty much all of my time spent gaming is spent on those three games.

    Anyone get Halo 4?

Title says it all. Did anyone get Halo 4 yet, if so what are your gamertags? I'm planning to get it later this month.

To all of you out there

While I think Bush was a horrendous President, I don't fault him solely for the recession although the sub prime mortgage crisis did occur under him. Citizen's United does need to be overturned by the way.

To all of you out there

It's a really complicated topic. On one hand I agree with you Bgorre that a lot of these people need to take whatever jobs they can get and should be majoring in useful majors. On the other hand, the people who destroyed the economy need to be held accountable instead of taking bonuses with taxpayer bailouts. However, I did support the bailouts and stimulus. Maybe I'm lucky that I haven't been turned down for a job yet and I majored in Political Science. If people like Bgorre can come from other countries and find work here, I'm sure people born here can too. Making it is really tough and you gotta be willing to work like crazy to rise up. The American dream isn't guaranteed and requires crazy hard work.

    1.2 Trillion and Counting

I think the effective tax rate most Americans pay is probably lower than that of Western Europe. Corporate tax in America is effectively pretty low, federal income tax is reasonable for most and capital gains tax is really low. I don't think the US takes in too much money in taxes and its unlikely that taxes are going to rise in any significant manner.

    Skyrim

C2, if you've waited this long in an upgrade cycle to upgrade, you should save it until around march next year. Skyrim doesn't run very well on my computer either and I'm planning to build my next one next spring.

    Skyrim

I was supposed to get it last weekend, but I've been too busy. I'm excited to play though, I've heard really good things about it. Just picked it up haha. My friend was going to the mall and I couldn't resist picking it up.

    MW3

Hmm, never heard of it Andrew. Looks pretty cool though.

    MW3

While this is typically true, Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 are really much different. The only similarity is that it's first person with guns you shoot. The use of vehicles in Battlefield adds a completely different dynamic and players tend to play like a team. Also 64 players on a gigantic map with several battlegrounds changes the way games play out. There's also a big difference between stop and pop shooters vs run and gun, but that difference is likely more palpable to good players. I usually buy a few FPS a year, but so far Far Cry 2, Metro 2033, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Crysis 2, MW3 and Battlefield 3 have been pretty different games. Metro 2033 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in particular were really atmospheric. That being said, I try not to buy games at $60, but I will from time to time.

    MW3

I'm less than impressed with it, but I haven't played it much. So far I think Black Ops was actually better. I've been playing Battlefield 3 a lot more which is pretty different from Call of Duty.

    Legalization of Drugs

I think this is what it boils down to whether or not you think it should be legal or illegal. Even if it is illegal, people will still do it. We saw with prohibition that making things illegal fuels a black market that isn't taxed and could potential be used to fund organized crime and the like,

    Legalization of Drugs

Individuals need the government to protect themselves from others. People don't need to be babysat by their governments. If somebody wants to harm themselves and only themselves they should have the right to. Freedom comes at a price and the notion of restricting other people's freedom because I don't agree with it is absurd. This stretches to other issues as well such as gay marriage. If it doesn't affect me whatsoever, why should I want to restrict it. I understand that there is a religious side to that debate as well, but as a secularist I don't agree that we should prohibit things that don't harm others.

    Legalization of Drugs

I find it infuriating that our government continues to throw money away on a failed drug war and instead decides to cut down on things like NASA and cutting edge science. I just read that Fermilab's Tevatron is closing its doors after twenty years because $100M is suddenly too much money to spend on science when we're spending ~$15B a year on fighting drugs(mostly marijuana).

    Global Warming

Hmm, maybe I should have it looked it. I just got it so I have no idea what gas mileage to expect from it. Do you take it easy on the gas pedal maybe?
  25. WilliamFrancisLouis

    Global Warming

2007 or 2008 I think. I do all city driving so lower gas mileage is to be expected. I can average over 20 on the highway though.
