lonzomac 19 Posted March 5, 2018 Ok, I wasn't even sure that this is a debate but I keep seeing different people arguing for and against pineapple on pizza. See, kinda stupid but since we're with a multinational audience, I'd like your opinion. Does pineapple go on pizza or not? My favorite pizza is grilled chicken, bacon and pineapple with extra cheese and sauce so obviously I don't understand why anyone says it doesn't belong other than their not having my king-like taste buds and sophistication...???????????? And go!!! Don't forget to add your reasoning.

The AmericanRepublic 6 Posted March 6, 2018 Pineapple pizza is an affront to all of mankind. Two good things together do not always make a new even betterererer thing. I think the Canadian who invented this atrocity did so out of a sinister motive. To cause a global civil war over his ridiculous idea. To this end he was not successful....yet. Most likely because well he was Canadian would have apologized if he knew the damage he caused. However, to prevent the global Civil War we should clearly be reversing his atrocity and get the UN to ban pineapple pizza. For real dough, my reasoning is the first two sentences. lonzomac 19 Posted March 6, 2018 Add your reasoning? I think it's more important to add your seasoning! My reasoning is based on the salty vs sweet mixture. I'm a fan of several fruits on pizza, apples are another, again with grilled chicken and bacon. The so-called Hawaiian version with Canadian bacon (it's just ham, not bacon) isn't that great. Mine is, I also like pineapple but only cooked, otherwise it's too tart. Somehow Aurelius, I knew it'd be you to get at this first it usually is. And Mr. SecGen, with the way you worded that, I'm inclined to follow your lead. And I love the stuff, but Canadians right? JK to all of our Canadian buddays but if he knew, he'd apologize, that's great.
Dark Wizard 23 Posted March 6, 2018 I love a good Hawaiian pizza, it is my go to. The sweet pineapples go well with the salty bacon and ham, and throw a couple banana peppers on there for good measure to add some tangy spice and you have a perfect pizza. It's not for everybody, but pineapple is a widely accepted pizza topping, as it should be.
Mandystalin 6 Posted March 24, 2018 A touch of sweet with a savoury meal can be very nice, so I'm not against pineapple on pizza as a concept. However, I don't really like pineapple...
TankKiller 72 Posted March 28, 2018 I'm a big fan of creating a good balance of tastes on food, and it's something I always aim for when cooking. A complimentary balance of sweetness, saltiness, sourness, umami and bitterness can be wonderful. For that reason, adding pineapple for sweetness and slight acidity is a great idea to me. lonzomac 19 Posted March 31, 2018 A touch of sweet with a savoury meal can be very nice, so I'm not against pineapple on pizza as a concept. However, I don't really like pineapple... I've also tried red apple and grilled chicken with a sweet marinara sauce and mozerella mixed with chunks of bleu cheese. Pretty good.
