Canada's Federal Equalization program

Recommended Posts

i highly doubt, as i have stated before, the united states is so high in debt that they have to cut back places just to stop the debt ceiling from being reached too quick. there would have to be major cuts in places to achieve and i am not sure where a good place to cut it would be. i am not sure what the solution is.

Not in the US. It's straight up communism that is.

We have a Conservative gov right now and the prime minister has an Economics degree and even they support this program.

Well, it does make a lot of sense, but will it work in a politically highly-charged atmosphere in the US? No.

Conservative is a relative term. In Canada they may be conservative, but not down here.

I hope you don't think I'm ragging on Canada, by the way. I see it as communistic, but whatever floats your boat is fine with me. It's just not something I want to, or think will, happen in the US.

Actually, Kajdav, I think its technically closer to socialism. This is redistribution of wealth in one of its most basic forms. But yeah, that would never happen in the US. Our entire political and social culture is based on modified rugged individualism.

And that's why it won't work in the USA. At any hint of having their money used to help somebody else the whole country shouts 'Communism!' and revolts ;)
